THE WRITER’S WORK: WONDER AND WITNESS

ARC's 5th Annual Writing Retreat with Karen Hering
Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 4 pm to
Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 12 pm

$540 includes meals, lodging and facilitated retreat. Discounted early-bird registration fee is $500 before March 31.

“To see clearly,” John Ruskin once wrote, “is poetry, prophecy and religion all in one.” It can be revolutionary as well. The writer’s task has always been to pay attention, to regard the world with wonder and curiosity, and to serve as a witness, describing its appearances and events and their possible meanings. In times that challenge the justice and peace we seek in the world, this role is especially important. We will focus on our double task as writers, cultivating wonder—paying attention to world at hand—and giving witness to what we see.
